Danielle Freeman is a wife, mother of four breastfed children with more than 10 years of personal breastfeeding experience. Professionally, she is a Licensed Practical Nurse, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, a Board Member of the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition, and the Founder and Program Director of Paving The Way: Diversity In Lactation, Inc., commonly known as PTW.
Upon entering the lactation field, Dani observed the lack of diversity within the lactation workforce and the resulting breastfeeding disparities afflicting Women of Color, which stemmed from insufficient education and support. This observation served as the motivation to effect the necessary change and thus PTW was born.
Following the birth of her fourth child in December 2024, Dani made the decision to close her practice to focus on being a stay-at-home-mother to her newborn and to homeschool her eight-year-old daughter.
Dani maintains her strong commitment to ensuring that families have access to the support they require and deserve. By assisting other birth and lactation professionals of color in becoming International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), families can access culturally relevant care, thereby helping them achieve their feeding goals.
